The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

The temperature in the cave is bitter towards the entrance but the further back she travels the warmer it gets until she sighs in relief. She is a small creature and as such her body cannot take the more extreme elements of the cold like the more brawny wolves. Winter was at the cusp of it's ending; the animals fair vibrated with excitement for the warmer weather and she was there with them. For now she would stay warm and alive until the sunshine penetrated the thick layer of cold to warm the land. The scents of the caverns are musty with a hint of wet. She knew that in the midst of all these tunnels there ran underground rivers despite never having visited, but now that she had returned to Molodian she would find out more secrets of the land before she settled down. Packlife was a strange notion to her after so many years away and even if Malum decided to stay in Iromar she would simply wander the outskirts until she found something that might bind herself to a place.

It is the echoing scrape of something against stone that makes her pause. Slender head tilts to the side with one ear pricked and the other facing backwards just to make sure that it didn't come from behind her. Acoustics this place had and how did she know that someone wasn't sneaking up on her? She blends so perfectly into the darkness with her matte obsidian fur that the only thing another might first notice is the movement of white markings and the glint of pink eyes.

Hello? His voice bounces against the walls and in the darkness she jumps, startled, because it sounds so close and loud. "Hello." Her own voice is average, with a feminine tone, but nothing spectacular; it bounces back and forth as she takes a few steps forward until the white of his pelt begins to lighten in the darkness and her pupils expand to take in the color. She can only see a fair shape of him, much larger than she is, and that something obscure is before him. "What are you doing in here, marking up the wall?" There is a curious edge to her voice as well as an amused one, assuming he was clawing at the wall. "There is an exit, you know, you do not have to dig through stone to leave."
