Nakato
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky |
It felt good to be home. After she had suddenly been spirited away to an unknown land, Nakato had been trying to busy herself with gathering herbs. She was grateful that both her alphas had come for her after the kidnapping and she wanted nothing more than to show them. Asteria was a smaller pack, still growing after the recent takeover by the new alpha pair, and needed much work to be done for it to become strong like some of the other lands. Of course, that strength lay mostly with numbers but it also came from organization from within. Keeping everyone fed was the hunter’s job. Keeping them all healthy was hers. The winter months often brought illnesses and it was up to Nakato to make sure that none succumbed to such plagues. This is what brought her to the thick bush standing alone on the top of one of the many rolling hills. The scent of burdock was strong and the wolf smiled happily at the dead plant. The thistles were yellow and the leaves brittle, but that wasn’t what she needed from the flower. She bowed her head in respect and thanked it silently for giving its life to her cause. After that, she carefully dug out the deep root and pulled it from the earth. Chewing off the sharp thistles took a moment, the bitter taste a bit unsettling, but within a few moments she was carrying the large root back to her den. Once there, she carefully placed in with the growing batch of herbs she was storing in her home. It had taken some time to dig out enough space to fit everything but it had been worth it. The plains were still full of plants that were perfect for her needs. Roots were the most common thing and not even the bite of winter could kill those. The druid still needed the leaves of some items but those would have to wait until spring. Her stomach gave a small growl as it let her know she was hungry. Happy with the day’s hard work, the wolfess left her home to fetch a meal. An hour later saw the grey girl licking her licks free of the blood and meat of the pheasant she had killed. After thanking the bird for giving its life so that she may live, she ate her fill of the delicious meat. The scent of blood filled the afternoon air and the healer couldn’t help but wonder if it would draw some of the other members of her pack. Thus far, Nakato had only really talked to the Monster and only had a brief meeting with Tobias. No other wolf had approached her. Would today be any different? |
