Announcements as of July 28, 2021

I have called you, and you have answered my call --

Do not mistake my silence for weakness, my forest kin. For I am willing to defend you with my fangs and claws, until the days come when am no longer able to. Keep an eye on the borders for Zelda and her sister Midna, because I will welcome them back into the flock on the day of their return.

The flood has left our forest home in a sorry state of disarray. I shall not tolerate this. Summer is here and we must rebuild our dens in time for winter. There is a lot of hard and dirty work ahead of us. But we shall face it together, as family, as a pack. Let's get back to work and then we shall hunt. I hunger for a feast.

From your new Alpha --

Moonshade, the Gravekeeper of Moladion

He was built for stamina and it showed. He was used to tracking killers for days, weeks even. He had once kept up with a serial killer for 4 months. He did have patience from hunting, that's for sure. He knew Tuari meant well and she had such faith in him to do the right thing. Maybe she'd never understand unless she saw the stretches he went through to get his point across to his victims. It wasn't just about the kill. In fact, the kill was the last important part of it. He made them SEE what they did to others. He made them understand the lives they took before he took their own. He would listen to them beg for their lives then he would rip their throats out, if they were lucky. If they weren't so lucky, he would start dismembering them while they were still alive. Tuari thought she was invisible but ever since that day the roles had been reversed and he had managed to surprise her from the leaf pile, she'd never been invisible to him. He could pick out her scent anywhere.

He knew that others didn't notice her that much. They didn't know how to listen. They just needed to learn how to use something other than their ears. He was sad that her imprint had left her and if he ever did come back, Dexter wasn't going to let him off that easy. There would definitely be a smooth talking-to for the hurt he put on Tuari. He wanted her happy above all else. He was glad she was coming out of her shell since he'd been back and she was brighter and seemed to have more purpose in her step. It looked good on her. As they ran, he was enjoying the wind and the smell of the forest. He would never tire of this smell. He veered off to the side, knowing he would never catch her in a straight up race, not until she tired. He would have to use his cunning. He ran parallel to her in the trees and watched her slow down with a satisfied smirk. Then he veered back toward her and was pleasantly surprised when she ran right smack into him and fell over.

He was quick to make sure she was okay first, eyes wide as he stared down at her after stumbling to the side and almost falling down himself, but when he saw the look on her face, he knew everything was alright and he started to laugh, just as he knew she was on the inside. He watched her wriggle in the leaves with a boyish grin, wagging his tail.

"You're silly."

He murmured softly, the affection clear in his tone. As she batted at him, he danced around her and barked gleefully, using his own paw to kick some leaves up at her as he play bowed and then threw himself down in the leaves beside her, rolling and wriggling around. He noted the new look in her eyes and it caused him pause if only for a minute. He could swear it was like she wanted something from him...something more to their friendship. He didn't know how to handle that, at least not right now. Tuari meant the world to him; there was no denying that. But he couldn't forget about the connection he shared with Talien either. The hunt with her had been something special and they moved like shadows. She was sassy and witty. He was stumped. He'd never thought about this angle of it, of the feelings Tuari might be having when they reunited. They weren't pups anymore. There was bound to be emotions. Now what was he to do with that? He cared about Talien but he also cared about Tuari. What's a guy to do?

She was silent, even more silent than usual because she wasn't even trying to talk with her eyes anymore. It was like she had already told herself that he would reject her and she was thoughtful. He didn't like this version of Tuari. He wanted his bright and playful best friend back! He barked to get her attention and kicked some more leaves up at her, grinning as he danced around her. Her attention wavered and then she was staring up at the sky. Scowling in thought, he moved to lie down beside her, nudging his shoulder up against her as he settled down. He turned so that he could stare up with her, smiling softly as he gave her a sidelong look. She was so pretty and she didn't even see it. He could feel the winter chill setting in and he knew his hormones were going crazy, but it was true, hormones or not. Tuari was a true beauty and she didn't need a voice to mesmerize him with her song. When he looked at her, well, it was what one would call effulgence.

"Tuari....you ever think about....like kids and stuff?"

THE FOREST RANKS

THE GRAVEKEEPER

The Alpha Male of Taviora. He will accept all challenges and block any steals. He has taken an oath to protect all within the forest, alive and dead.

THE KEEPER OF SECRETS

This will be Moonshade's chosen co-alpha. They will also be able to accept challanges and steals in order to defend Taviora.

THE KEEPER OF TRUTHS

This rank will belong to the chosen heir of Taviora. This wolf will probably share Moonshade's blood. This rank can be challenged for if you believe that you are a better candidate for the job.

THE FOREST COUNCIL

Although the Alpha's have the final say in all matters, Taviora is still a pack, we are still a community. These wolves are the most senior members of our ranks. Their role is to guide, serve and protect. All of them have earned their place here and they should be respected at all times. Every position on the council can be challanged for by a subordinate pack member. However the council has the right to block a pack member from gaining the position if they have concluded that the individual has placed their own selfish desires before the best interest of the pack as a whole.

THE TUSKS

The packs lead fighter. One of the strongest and bravest in our ranks. They will answer the call to protect the forest if either of the Alpha's are absent.

THE JAWS

The packs head of defence. They are our chief hunter and guardian to all within the forest borders. They know every inch of Taviora and every wolf within.

THE HORNS

The packs most senior teacher. They are responsible for teaching and guiding all of our young and new members so that they will reach their full potential.

THE EYES

The packs trusted informant. This wolf spends a lot of their time outside the forest borders, keeping their eyes, ears and nose peeled for news or potential trouble. Due to the secretive and dangerous nature of this rank, only a wolf that the pack can trust with their lives will obtain this responsibility.

THE DARKDWELLER

This is Taviora’s Head Healer. This wolf is responsible for treating the pack's wounds, injuries and illnesses. They are also expected to be one of the first on scene when a mother goes into labour. Along with their counterpart, The Soothsayer, they will train future healers for the service of our pack and our allies.

THE SOOTHSAYER

This is Taviora’s Head Counselor. Their knowledge of healing and herbal remedies are equal to that of their counterpart, The Darkdweller. This wolf specializes in helping us conquer the unseen demons in our heads and our hearts. They are also expected to help bring all children of the forest safely into this world.

NIGHTWATCHERS

Our trusted packmates that guard the borders while the rest of us sleep safely in our dens. If something is amiss within our lands, they should be the first to intercept any threat and call for back up when needed. Some might not call themselves soldiers, but they will spill blood if push comes to shove.

DAWNSTRIDERS

The most diligent and selfless of our pack. They are up at first light and leave our inner sanctum every few days in search of prey. They hunt far and wide in order to make sure none of us go hungry. While not out hunting, they are free to relax or assist the Nightwatchers, Daylightres or Dawnstriders with their tasks.

DAYLIGHTERS

This group will make up the bulk of our pack, they are our beloved family. They are generalists and commoners who are charged with looking after the most central and sacred parts of our home. Along with The Horns, they are expected to watch out for our children. We are happy to keep all within our ranks that love and respect the forest of Taviora.

DUSKWALKERS

Rumoured to be the most free spirited and independent members of our pack, they guard when no other eyes are available. They wander down all the winding dirt paths and have been known to explore into the freelands. They are envoys and ambassadors who assist The Eyes with their duty of keeping us all safe.

ANCIENT PINES

These wolves are older and have retired from active service. We thank them for all that they have done for our pack, however long or short their tenor was. They shall live out the rest of their years with the best food, shelter and company we can offer them.

THE BRIAR PATCH

This is the name for Taviora’s nursing mothers and their litters of puppies. Once they are born, at least one parent is expected to temporarily step down from their role in order to raise their pups for the first 6 months of their lives. An exemption can be made if another mother is willing to look after the young while the parents resume their service to the pack.

THE SAPLINGS

Too big for the briar patch but not yet old enough to be called a daylighter. These are all puppies between the age of 1 and 3. Pups can start their training from 2 and above if The Horns has found a suitable Mentor for them.

THE WELCOMED

These wolves are welcome within our borders anytime of the day or night. Blocking their access will be met with disapproval and possible punishment.

THE BANISHED

They are enemies of our pack and their presence will not be tolerated within or near our home. Those caught in contact with a wolf on this list will likely share the same fate.

THE SACRED TOMBS

Our brothers and sisters that have sadly left us for their next adventures. We give thanks for their lives and we send them on with all our love, hopes and dreams. Moonshade will accept the bones of any wolf that has ever called Taviora their home and will find them a special place within our hallowed grounds. Every burial mound is individual and sacred. Tampering or messing with one will not be tolerated. A crime against the dead will be treated as though it has been committed against a living pack member.

Remember, we are always watching from the shadows ...
