Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

in the deafening silence;

what's a king
to a god?

The more Rehoboam saw, the less worried he was about Nahawi possessing some dark ulterior motive. He might have been disguising it well, but the tobiano found that unlikely. Nahawi spoke too plainly from the heart and was obviously passionate about changing the Lagoon for the better in the future.

He spoke of no one deserving to be a captive and Reh could not hide the frown on his lips. On this point, he disagreed. There were a few souls so deranged, so dangerous and devious that it was better to keep them caged somewhere that would blunt the reach of their claws. Horses like Nyimara and Cullen and Aranck deserved to be locked away for the horrors they had visited upon those in their care, but that was, perhaps, a conversation for another day. Rehoboam wasn't here to debate the finer points of Lagoon philosophy with Nahawi just yet. First, the had to decide if the man was worth following or if he would be like most of the others and be more bluster than action.

"You are not the first to try and reimagine the Lagoon," Reh began, his eyes once more finding Nahawi's. "In fact, apart from your predecessor, more Bosses have tried to change it than embraced what it is." Because the Lagoon would never truly be good. It could be better, its harm restricted, its damage controlled, but unless Nahawi could magically change the hearts of the men that entered it, it would never be wholly good. And no matter how many hearts he did convert, there would be as many, if not more, new recruits who did not ascribe to the same way of thinking.

"How do you plan to lead them?" Reh asked quietly, gesturing to the Lagoon as a whole behind him. The tobiano was well aware he was not asking easy questions, but he was far too gunshy to risk throwing his weight behind yet another leader that did not deserve it.
