The air is thick with the hot moisture of a humid afternoon, a telling sign of a large summer storm on its way. The wind that had clawed at the residence of the Luthien Island had now settled, not even leaving the faintest breath of the cooling air. The sky was filled with angry clouds, blocking out the sun to leave the already darkened forest even darker. Yet even with its intimidating look, Vivianna still had yet to feel the pulsating sensation of fear.


The pretty painted lady was standing alone as she had come to find herself for the last several days. It did not impress her, the lack of attention she received from the stallion who ruled these lands. Vivianna had wanted a man who would be as passionate about her as he would be in a fight and it seemed she had not found either in this dull coated stallion. A snort escaped her, causing the mare to shake her delicate face to allow her dark mane to unstick itself from her damp neck. Maybe it was just the uncomfortable weather that was making her this way, but being a high maintenance mare this just wasn’t cutting it.


Leaving her post at the tree upon the tall perch Kieron had shown her, Vivianna made the climb carefully and slowly so as not to trip and go rolling down the steep incline. That was all she needed, to scuff up her pretty coat right before breeding season. What was she to do if she decided this stallion wasn’t the one and she needed to impress another? Yes, she had to keep herself looking the best she could in this boring place.


Once reaching the lower level, Vivianna started to make her way down one of the winding trails that lead to the shore. She was curious to see the water before a storm and maybe even cool off in its soft spray.
