- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

Aura

At first, I don't even see him. I don't know if it's because of the tears, the waves, or my general malaise, but the male is able to get close before I notice his presence. Surprise dazes me in my reverie. It almost feels like the world is moving slowly around me, muffled. The low tones of his voice brush past my dark ears, which twist toward him: 'She gives mercy, by being merciless." Was he talking about the ocean? I turn from the water to look more directly at him, the silver-haired bay stallion who had approached me.

My brow is furrowed in a disconnected confusion as I try to wrench myself out of the past to try and place who this is before me. When our eyes meet, it is as if I am caught in the gaze of something like a wildcat or a cobra, a thing that will watch patiently before striking. "You should give in to her call." His words are a balmy siren's song in my dazed state. The masculine timbre of them swims in my head, luring me to the water. Should I go? A single forehoof lifts questioningly.

"I can go with you, if you're afraid?" A trembling overtakes me. I am afraid. I am afraid of the way his eyes and voice have transfixed me. I am afraid of the way that not being able to place his face has created a slow and sickening twist in my gut. I have scarcely moved from the way the stranger first found me by the time someone I do know shows up. I recognize the buckskin pelt of the leader's son, Castillon.

"Get away from her, you brute," hisses forth from his dark mouth. The young golden stallion sweeps between us, me and the stranger, who I now have the wits to back away from. I lower my head and back up a couple steps. It is a docile, submissive, and even fearful gesture. I wasn't sure at all what to do, and my ineptitude would have seen me stolen away, if I had been left alone much longer. I wish the ocean really had swallowed me now.
