Rules � The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders. � Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission. � All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say. � Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met. � You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page. � Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Daffodil hated it here. She hated the thick scent of man that permeated every inch of the territory, tangled heavy with muck and mire. The bugs were wretched through summer, though they weren�t as terrible come autumn. Still, given the season, the golden mare did everything in her power to stay as far away from any intrusive bachelors as she could. Her heart felt numbed against the one she had once loved (not that she knew the reason for his absence was that he was no longer here) and she did not know what her future would hold.

In some ways, she was simply existing. Thinner than she�d ever been, though eating and drinking just enough to stay alive, as instinct wouldn�t allow her to lay down and waste away. Her brown eyes were dulled where they had once shone. Her lips hadn�t curved upward into a smile since the day she�d arrived here and even longer before that. Most nights she dreamed of that perfect little paradise she had with Romaro. It always hurt when she awoke and her senses filled with the Lagoon air rather than that of Atlantis.

Kestrel had once told her that their father had been a Lagoon stallion. Daffodil had only met Frey a few times in her very first year, only enough to vaguely remember him, but if he had been a stallion who belonged here it was for the best she never knew him. If her mother wasn�t the way she was, Daffodil may have questioned her taste in stallions with how much she�d loved him, but given Talya�s� condition it wasn�t that surprising she chose to see the best in him.

(Of course, she was judging everything based on the current Lagoon and not thinking there may have been a time when it was a kinder place than it is now.)

Either way, she was tired and she was sad and she was lonely, and Daffodil had done absolutely nothing to deserve the way her life had turned out. She had given her heart away to the wrong man, maybe. Trusted too easily, perhaps. If she had any fight with her, she�d run from this place and find someone, somewhere, to take her away and keep her safe. But, just like the bright light in her eyes and the once-shine to her gilded coat, her fight was absolutely gone.
