Blood in the water

Addison sighed it’s ok she couldn’t blame him for not realising she couldn’t see, she also didn’t comment that she was fully aware she boxed in by trees, he was trying to help and she could commend him for that at least. She knew she wasn’t a pleasant mare to be around right now.

Listening she still couldn’t quite work out where he was, shifting her head from left to right to try and pinpoint his location wasn’t really working very well. Still she lifted her head and move it towards the left, taking a hesitant step backwards whilst using her nose to try and locate any trees in her way as she pivoted towards the left, hoping that was the right direction.

As her injured right shoulder felt the stretch of her body angling to the left she felt twinges of pain, stopping her movement for a moment as she clenched her jaw against the pain, taking several deep breathes, she wasn’t sure if this other horse was on her left side as she suspected or her right. Although mostly healed, at least from the outside, the deep rake marks of a powerful predator would scar her for the rest of her miserable life, the internal muscles that had been shredded would take longer to heal, even now she felt like the limp she had was probably permanent.

At the word watch she paused, her head tilting a little, the irony of the statement wasn’t lost on her Alas I can’t watch the end of my nose so you might have to do it for me she deadpanned sarcastically, although couldn’t keep the corners of her mouth from twitching. She had always had a somewhat sarcastic sense of humour.
