At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

The pale femme held a glint of amusement in her eyes as Terrel scrambled up to sit, and she took his action as welcoming her to join him, sitting comfortably on the rocky floor. “I’m well, thank you. I hope it’s not a bother if I join you for a while. How are you?” She turned her golden brown gaze to the water cascading over the layers of stone beside them and joined him in chuckling, a light and relaxed sound rising from her. “It would appear so,” she smiled, looking fondly over the scenery. Another small laugh escaped her maw as he mused on a possible obsession with water. It certainly seemed that her favourite places were around it, the serenity and calmness that accompanied laying beside flowing water something that couldn’t be beaten in her eyes. Perhaps a view from the top of a mountain could top it, but as she’d never ventured into that part of Blossom Forest she couldn’t compare them.

“Perhaps we do,” she glanced back at him, taking in his relaxed appearance, “but then, there’s no problem with that. After all, it is very calming to rest by the side of a river or watch over a waterfall.” Thinking about the never changing scene, but ever ongoing exchange of water put a content gaze in her eyes as she thought over the possibilities of where that water had been; she could imagine travelling to those places, just following a river endlessly to see where it stopped. She’d heard tales of endless expanses of water, but Leisure Lake was the closest she’d ever seen to that. She looked over Terrel, wondering why she could so easily speak with him when she often had trouble opening up to other wolves. Perhaps it was because he’d been the first wolf she’d talked with alone after entering Saw Tooth, but she was glad she had someone to speak with. It sometimes got lonely being too hidden behind her own barriers to want to approach someone she barely knew.

Terrel then stretched out, curving his back as he loosened his muscles. The action made the femme feel lazy and she closed her eyes as a yawn escaped her, a small whine escaping her before she closed her maw and shook her head to clear her mind. The male had turned back to her from whatever he’d been gazing at as he spoke to her again. “I’ve been here occasionally,” she told him, “It was immediately put in my memory when I stumbled across it, as it can be so beautiful if you come here at the right time. If I wanted to relax or spend time thinking I came here, but since joining Saw Tooth this is the first time I’ve been away from the pack. Further down the river can also be very scenic, but…” she trailed off, thinking once again of the obnoxious males who lurked there looking for lone females, “…you can’t exactly find the best of company down there.”

Mae listened as he told her this was where he’d first met his mother, black tipped ears perking in attention. The best thing about meeting a new wolf was finding out about them and she smiled at him, “This must be a very special place for you then. How old were you when you met her?” Her tone was quiet, obviously curious but held back as she didn’t want to intrude if he wasn’t willing to tell her much. She laughed easily as he promised he wasn’t stalking her during her lessons with Cai, finding his need to assure her amusing. “Yeah, Cai’s very helpful,” she spoke fondly of the Delta female, “There’s not much to learn about welcoming wolves into the pack, but she gave me some tips and a bit of a challenge. I trust your meeting with your mum was good?” By the way he spoke about her, she assumed they were very close. With all the positive words, she found herself wanting to meet the femme. She was yet another pack mate Mae had yet to meet, but she sounded kind so if the femme ever came across her she doubted she’d be afraid.

At the scream of crows flying overhead, Mae’s attention was drawn upwards. Her eyes narrowed at the loud cawing the black birds releasing, with no respect for those wishing to have a calm conversation below. She lowered her gaze to see Terrel also looking disdainfully at the birds. “They have no respect for quiet, do they?” she laughed softly, glad as they flew on, “I understand they have no need for silence, with no predators in the sky, but it’s not particularly necessary.”
