The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

Terrel barely detected Mae lingering outside of the cavern; he was too concerned with getting all of the liquid beads off of his colourful fur. The patterned fur stuck together causing his frame to become even more defined. Although he looked nothing like the definition of ‘cute’ but perhaps a little deformed. And maybe he appeared to be like a drowned or drowning rat. His expression was not a happy one but perhaps it was at least relief. He didn’t care about the darkness; he didn’t care about the shivers running down his spine and the sound of his rattling teeth. All he cared about was getting out of that rain and warming himself up. Although he did not notice the haunted atmosphere that lingered all around, he felt only relief but it would soon fade; he was still wet, drenched to the bone. Cold, tired and oblivious but at least he was getting somewhere in life – he was exploring more and he was gaining confidence. Sighing, Terrel lifted his head from licking his lower muzzle to finally set his eyes on the area around him. Only there was nothing to look at. It was dark. It was musty and it was scary and certainly not anything to appreciate.

The varg was thrown into a surprised stumble, his heart lifted in a frightened act. What was that? Who was that? However his mood was calmed when a gust of wind brought the scent of his friend Mae. She apologised quickly but his heart still pounded with fear. “It’s fine Mae,” Terrel responded and chuckled although his laugh was husky and maybe a little bit too fearless. Gulping, brown optics studied the land around him. Shadows bounced from one wall to another, shuffled paw steps of other creatures echoing in a creepy chorus. Breathing in Terrel asked whether she had ever taken a step in this place. She did not answer straight away but Terrel had already guessed the answer. He was startled slightly that the gently paw steps of Mae shuffled closer – he was still not used to the darkness. It reminded Terrel too much of him and that den he had thrived many moons in.

Terrel’s mouth was dominated in a smile when she enquired what he thought was deeper inside. “Oh I don’t know maybe an eight legged monster with 13 eyes and 24 individual fangs. They have supersonic speed and the taste that they favour overall in tasty young female wolves.” He said and laughed, playfully bashing about the silver sylph. Indeed it was a creature of fantasy and something that lived in imagination.

They walked for a bit, accompanied by the gentle sounds of each other’s breath. It was calming and reassuring to know that they were not alone in the dingy cavern. When Terrel’s orbs finally found a suitable area to rest, he sat – his banner thumped gently against the rock, echoing in a muffled sound. Words were not created quickly as they were not needed – Terrel sighed and once again spoke: enquiring her thoughts of the cavern. He listened intently as she spoke, nodding. “Yeah, I agree; although the creepiness is accompanied with an intriguing atmosphere but I wouldn’t stay here longer than I would have to.” He said, ending his small speech was a chuckle.

“No I haven’t been here before and I don’t think I’ll return either.” Terrel said, a grim expression crossing his features briefly. “Would you ever return?” He asked with his head tilted, curious to know more about Mae.

After a while Terrel turned his head to gaze upon the tunnel. “Shall we go on or do you wish to stay here?” The boy asked. He did not wish to force anything on her.
