At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Leila

___________________________________________________________________________

Her obscure lips broadened joyfully as her auricles swivelled to welcome the laughter that the male so confidently produced. Leila grinned wide as he agreed on the fact that she would have probably returned the gesture. She examined intently for any movement that the brute might create – but nothing visited. Leila tilted her head to the right; he was incredibly still and she was so focused on watching him although an itch wormed his way through her bodice causing a shaking of her pelt. Leila watched curiously as the brute rolled onto his chest and opened his icy optics – capturing her consideration with an inquisitive air. The young adult smiled as she waited patiently to answer his rather extensive speech.

After her response, Kalgalalth seemed to, in Leila’s judgment, seemed oddly touched by her hopefulness.
‘I believed that my best friend would have taken over – he was the Beta under the previous Alpha, but he has denied himself the throne. So, Leila, you are wise yourself – I did offer myself up for the position of Alpha. I would hate for the position to fall to an outsider.’
Leila smiled but said nothing more as they basked in the steady sunlight captured in their own thoughts. Was she ready for a pack? Even if Leila was ready then would they accept her? She sighed although inaudibly because she did not wish to trouble the brute before her. Leila believed however that whatever happened she would always have at least one friend and that is better than nothing. Leila wanted a rank; a job in a pack though she would have to challenge ranks for that; disturbing the peaceful order already established but rank or no rank the one time she desired was a place to fall back on. Even if that meant having to prove herself before she claimed her wish.

Eventually; after growing restless in the silence and idleness that claimed the land Leila broke the silence. Leila returned the smile as he welcomed her lyrics. Her grin widened at the invitation of a pack tour someday. “Well, I shall greatly look forward to that meeting Kalgalalth,” she replied with a small chuckle. “Of course I shall explore and learn about each pack lands but currently Aurora Borealis is most promising.” She informed the brute her head tilted ever so slightly. She was intently watching the melded boy, how his words flowed with such fluency and the way he got each words so correct.

“Me?” She said with a shocked tone of voice, attempting without success to hide the grin on her maw that disturbed her features. “How could you accuse me of such actions, Kal?” Her speech was rhetorical but Leila was still looking for to a response from him. “I thought we were friends after all you’re my Kal-pal!” She added whilst laughing at the nickname she had so generously titled him.

Leila’s smile disappeared as the question of family was asked –she didn’t want her family but she was stuck with them. She sighed and shook her head – she knew she would be able to trust Kalgalalth; not that it was any traumatic story any way. “I have family back in my previous pack but it was a very structured pack and we rarely had any fun there. I was a healthy pup and so was extremely promising for the pack. Friends were prohibited although that didn’t stop me, throughout breaks of training I would sneak out and play with the other packs. I left that pack so that answers your question of why I came to Blossom Forest; although I have never heard of it before but simply I stumbled across it.” She finished her monologue; surprised that she had actually said so much and thought for a few moments, contemplating on what to say. “Why did you come here?”
