aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Test My Will, Test My Heart

Adara paced around her brother, wishing that their mother was there. Her silvery pelt brushed against his dark one, receiving comfort just from the touch of her brother, hoping that she could bring some comfort to him as well, gods only knew that he could use some comfort. Not long after the two siblings had been talking they were joined by another wolf, a brute that looked very similar to Adara, with piercing blue eyes just like the rest of her family’s. It shocked her to see someone else with eyes like that, and markings so similar to her own. It took her brain a moment to adjust but then in idea flashed through her mind, Maybe Rohan knows that this is father’s pack, and maybe, just maybe, this could be our father?! The femme pushed the thought out of her head, not wanting to get her hopes up that they could have found their father so easily.

The fae was glad when her brother spoke up for them, addressing the alpha, “Kalgalath I had no business with your pack but seeing that I am here now I might consider asking to join but I would like to wait for my mother’s consent.” Adara looked towards her brother, shocked by his response. She did not realize that they were going to try and join a pack. Adara was not the leader type at all though, quite the opposite actually, and she would follow whatever her brother and mother did. If they wanted to join this pack then so would Adara. She would not do anything that would cause the three of them to split up, her small broken family meant more to her than anything else in the world. Rohan looked behind him, in the direction that they had come from and whispered in Adara’s ear, “Do you know where mother is?” The silver femme shook her head; she had assumed that mother would return to them when she was ready, after all Rohan had called for her when he ran off.

Moments after Rohan had addressed the alpha another wolf came into Adara’s site. This one was an entirely black femme that seemed to appear right out of the shadows of the pack. She did not speak to Adara or Rohan, but just spoke the alpha’s name when she arrived and dipped her head towards him in greeting as she stood slightly behind him. Even though she did not speak to the siblings her meaning was clear; the black ess was there to back Kalgalath up and protect her pack if necessary. Adara grew respect for the alpha as she saw one of the pack’s members coming to his aid and showing her presence.

Adara hoped that their mother was not far as they waited for her to arrive. Their mother did not make them wait long, however as she soon stepped out of the trees and made her way towards the group at the border. The silver femme lifted her head in the direction that her mother was coming from, hearing her mumbling some unknown words to herself as she became visible to the group. She walked to Rohan first and pressed her nose into the fur near his ear as she spoke an apology to him. Her brother embraced their mother as he spoke to her before looking across the border again at Kalgalath and the black femme that stood before them.

Adara had hoped that after speaking to her brother their mother would also come to her, maybe even giving her a comforting touch. She was disappointed though when their mother turned her gaze towards the alpha, speaking her next words to him, “Remember me, Kal? Think hard. You may remember them too.” Adara’s bright blue eyes widened in shock, this was her father. Adara’s gaze looked him over even more closely, seeing the resemblance that she had with him in their similar pelts, and of course the eyes that the four of them all shared. Adara was not usually the one to speak up, but words tumbled out of her maw before she could stop them, “Are you our father?” Her words came out almost like a whine, feeling like a lost pup again as she spoke. She quickly clamped her mouth shut, wishing she had never spoken them aloud. She looked towards her brother for some comfort, but he seemed to be frozen to the spot by mother’s words. Adara felt at a loss, she didn’t know what emotions she should be feeling, should she be excited, nervous, angry? She just didn’t know. There was just an emptiness inside of her, maybe that emptiness could be filled if her family became whole.
