Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Of all the things I had ever truly loved or excelled in, my talent had lied within the art of swimming. Many years ago, I had taught a young girl by the name of Bluejay to swim; I had coaxed the oddity that had been Nero to it, too. Why? Well, I had never known the answer to that myself - it was simply enjoyable. Come the summer, there was no greater feeling than the sensation of the cool water rippling through one's pelt, or bathing in the warmth of the sun to dry one's fur. It was a simple pleasure but certainly one in which I fully intended to indulge in, even in the strange new world that I had yet to adjust to. So, I had traveled east of Spirane, both satisfying my urge to explore and allowing me to stumble upon the fields - in the center stretched out a lake, the surface rippling in the light breeze. Truly, it was breath taking, and I found myself grinning over having found such a place.

There was no question that needed to be asked - I simply ran, breaking through the fields and onto the sandy shoreline before sprinting head long into the water. Around me, it sprayed out, bringing a joyous laughter from me as I waded. With the noon sun overhead, the water was alight, the rocks and sand beneath my paws visible through the water. Whereas I might have been saturated and quite ridiculous looking, it was by no means a challenge to see that I was in my element: I moved gracefully in the water, my narrow form swirling and twisting about as I paddled and bounced my paws along the bottom. Fish, thin and silver, darted away from me, though I found that if I stood still long enough, they would re emerge from their hiding places or from the deeper areas and curiously move about me, as if inspecting what I was exactly. This is why I had missed the water, why I had longed for the return of summer for so long. How could I not?

If any came by, I would call for them, beckoning them the water so that they might enjoy it as much as I.
