Enocra Woodland

Pine, spruce and firs alike...
Dense coniferous forests cover the woodlands, with clearings, paths and the occasional wildberry shrub throughout. Pine, spruce and fir make up much of the forest in the east, with the forest becoming swampier in the west towards Mecor Valley. In the west, cypress trees dominate, with fallen trees creating bridges across and throughout the stillwaters.

The young wolfess stood outside of her den, silently creeping away from the sleeping forms of her family. Lately the yearling had been wanting to explore this new world but hadn't been able to move very far from the den. Her parents, mostly her father, had been keeping a close eye on her and Cae since they first ventured out of the den. Being more of the adventurous type, Gaia had wanted to see and learn more about this new land, but Dad would rein her in every time and told her it was too dangerous. How could such a beautiful place be so dangerous? Being almost a year old made the young pup think she knew it all and she knew that it was time to really explore. With Mom and Dad fast asleep in the predawn light, Gaia moved like a tiny shadow away from the den and into Moladion.

It was still a big place. Even though the pup was growing into her adult body, she was still on the smaller size. The trees towered over her and sang songs as she walked by and the bushes trembled with other animals hoping to hide away from the beast. Gaia didn't know how to hunt yet as her parents were still bringing food to the den so she didn't understand why the little rodents scampered away as her paws carried her deeper into the woods. Father had said this place was scary and it looked like he feared much of the world, but Gaia couldn't see why. It was a lovely day as the sun shined down on the white snow that covered the land. With a smile, the red wolfess trotted along without a care in the world.

That is when she spotted him. He stood out as much as she did in the white world with his black fur. Gaia gasped at the sight of him. Surely he couldn't be much older than she and yet he seemed mighty with paws half her size. The female couldn't help but crouch in the snow in a poor attempt to hide herself. Maybe it hadn't been such a good idea to wander off. Ears up and bi-colored eyes focused, Gaia waited in the snow for the brute to wander off. But it seemed fate had other plans. A sudden wind picked up and carried her scent towards the stranger. Of course, she didn't know this as the pup hadn't learn yet the secrets her smell could tell. For now, she tried in vain to hide as her brain started to work out a plan for escape. Or maybe, she didn’t have to run away. What if this boy wanted to be her friend. So far, Gaia hadn’t met any other pups and she did long for a companion that wasn’t of her blood. Rather than laying in the cold snow she sat on her haunches, like mom did, and held her head up, like dad. If the wolf wanted to meet her, he would have to come to her.
