The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Now that the weather had turned fair things were looking up for Malleah. Spring had come quick after her meeting with Solitaire and she had been grateful for the herbs he had left her. It had healed the wound quickly and got rid of whatever little infection was there. It was safe to say that if Malleah, her tiny size, ever got so very sick with infection that she would likely waste away and die. She had no mate to care for her and no pack to watch over her. All she had were her siblings and even they were absent. By the time they got around to finding her she would no doubt be dead and half eaten by the wildlife. The foxes wouldn't care what she had been or what she hadn't - they would consume her flesh with quick bites. It was frustrating, really, to have to wake up each morning by herself and actually get out there and hunt. She missed conversation but she was smart enough not to approach other wolves around the area - she had heard of some attacks recently and chose to remain scarce when at all possible.

Not to mention the huge ass meeting that had taken place right at her 'den'. The grotto was hers dammit and those males had taken right over. No please or thank yous, just hey come get me ladies and gents and who gives a shit if this cavern smells like Malleah? Clearly she didn't need it anyways. It had been such a sore point for her that she still grumbled over it and she had made a point to scout out an abandoned fox hole nearby. It took some major work - much to her dismay - but she managed to get it just big enough that she could fit in and was comfortable. Not many other wolves could fit into it without first digging and for that she was pleased at her hard effort.

Today she moved around the woodlands outside the grotto with her body light as a feather, pausing and twitching at each sound in case it was that of some prey. As she moved closer to the gaps in the walls that made up the grotto she heard her name called from a familiar voice and her ears pricked. Legs picked up speed as she trotted towards the opening of her 'old' home to find Solitaire peeking in and with a sneaky smirk she pounces inside of the cave intending to nip at his tail to surprise him.

"BOO!" She shouts only a moment before she nips at the fur on his tail, already a thick round of laughter building in her chest as she imagines the look on his startle face. Oh what fun she had messing with the poor male!
