The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

in the beginning there was darkness

It is not the call that brings him forth this day, his mind tired from a long night of running and searching (for what, who knew?). It is the scent that catches on the wind as it spins in on itself and crosses his nostrils. Edrick lays atop a rocky outcropping with his head upon his thick paws. His body expands and retracts with easy movements as he slumbers and as the scent reaches him his mind conjures up images. Images of his brothers - of the stricken look on his parents face's when they found Heimdallr with his torn eye and the cries of how Sven was dead. Dead. His family had never been particularly close but to him it seemed to have fallen apart after the disappearance of Sven. He still had no idea that his brother lived, choosing instead to wander off with Rollo until they had become separated in their own directions.

The image of his other brother rolls across his mind and as wakefulness begins his nose twitches, snagging the scent once more until his eyes pop open in a bleary attempt to try and focus. It wasn't a dream. That was his brother, somewhere down among the throng of wolves in the distance. Edrick thrusts himself to his feet, swaying slightly at the head rush from such an action before climbing down unsteadily until he hits the forest floor. Shaking his head once more to clear away the last vestiges of sleep he lopes in the direction of all the other scents, losing Rollo's in the myriad of other wolves.

Pale eyes catch at the sight of many females and a few males, his brows furrowing as he tries to find Rollo among them, slipping beneath the shadowy foliage of above. Soon enough it would be bare and only the caverns would offer protection from the elements. Maybe he should go home to seek out his parents - were they even still there? But no, first he would find his brother.

"Rollo?" He says in a firm voice, still somewhat boyish as his body was finalizing itself for adulthood.
