Nakato
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky |
Winter was an interesting time of the year. The sun shone brightly above but the land was cold and wet. The rivers were frozen but there was plenty of water to go around. Nakato smiled as she took another bite of the freshly fallen snow. It soothed her thirst but did nothing to stop the angry knot of hunger in her stomach. The herds had moved on from this area and food had become increasingly scarce. For a pack, this wouldn’t be such a big deal but for a loner it was a matter of life and death. The lone wolf stood up and shook the snow clinging to her fur, her bob tail wagging slightly. It was time. For a year she had been wandering Moladion and silently watching the packs. There had been much conflict and many deaths but there was one pack land that seemed to stand out above the rest. The wolves there seemed strong and able. She knew within their ranks she would be safe from the cruelty of the world. As a wolf, she needed the comfort and companionship. Nakato needed a home. Two hours later the self-proclaimed druid stood outside the flat lands of Asteraia. The snow made the place look barren but the scent of the healthy wolves told her otherwise. ”Yes, this land will do nicely.” With a smile on her face and hope in her heart, the gray wolfess lifted her head and howled. It was a greeting and a calling. I am friend and I want to join you. Come, let us talk. Her song rang out loud and clear for several minutes until it echoed into silence. Then she waited, sitting on her haunches with that smile still on her muzzle. |
