aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Well maybe I’ll just go tell your mother that, then we’ll see just who rules and who drools.

Castiel bit back a burst of laughter, his eyes rolled back into his head from the contained laughter. Boy, Seraphina sure did have a way of getting the last word! Castiel had to hand it to the little lady, she certainly lived up to the description of ‘fiery’ and the ashy prince was enjoying every second of her rhetorical stratagem against Vladimir. The boys knew without a doubt, that no matter how kind their mother was, she could be their ‘worst nightmare’. And to the boys that meant being grounded in the den and likely being scolded for what seemed like forever. But unfortunately for Castiel, the sarcastic banter was dropped and Seraphina resigned herself to the name Armaita. And Vladimir, like Cas predicted, was more than happy to see the little princess taking his advice rather than her own. The honey-eyed prince just shrugged his shoulders rolling along with the conversation. More or less content to finally be away from the adults conversation and adultish things that came along with it. The irony was that Castiel was much more mature than he truly realized. Some had to wonder if he wasn’t an old soul with a young body, but there was no time to dwell on such things as Vlad needed his help.

And without a second thought the ashy princeling put in his two-sense. That was the beauty of Vladimir and Castiel. They effortlessly and seamlessly blended together. Complimenting each other in ways no two ordinary wolves could. Sure they were polar opposites but maybe that was what made it so easy, together they had a blend of every personality or trait imaginable. But that didn’t matter at the moment, right now they needed to run. And fast! The demons were coming for them!

Castiel was off like a shot and he hardly needed to slow down for the other two to catch up. Vladimir had risen up at his first warning and had barely needed his second to get his butt in gear. Seraphina being more cautious had taken a look at where Castiel had first seen the signs of the hellish creatures. And within a few seconds she too was off like a shot running next to Vladimir, after Castiel. And there they were, a trio of pups rushing through the woods being chased by imaginary demons (though they’d argue otherwise). Castiel deciding to hand the control back to someone else threw out the question of where to go. Where could they run and hide from the demons? Seraphina came up blank, which was understandable so she passed the question to Vladimir. Their last hope, What do you think Vlad? You know this area better than me.

Vladimir merely nodded his head, surprising Castiel. He had been ready for some retort of ‘you know it’ or ‘wouldn’t expect any less’, but the Cas had to give Vlad credit. He wasn’t always so uptight, and it seemed that when he wasn’t thinking about it Seraphina was just another pup and not the supposed ‘infiltrator’ that he had made her out to be at first. We ran past some abandoned caves on the south end of the pack once - let's go there! Castiel furrowed his brow in concentration trying to remember these caves, but he had to drop his concentration as Vladimir darted off into the woods, towards the lake, with Seraphina at his side. His little puppy legs pushed him after the duo, his auds perked at the sound of his brother’s voice, If we run down along the beach a ways and then turn back into the forest only jumping from stone to stone and root to root we can circle back to the caves and hide in them! Castiel just barely managed a nod, he couldn’t waste much energy with words at this point. Their little escapade was taking a lot longer than the little boy had anticipated and he could feel the soreness building in his limbs, but finally the shoreline broke into their vision.

Castiel stayed in the back of the pack and followed Vladimir step for step behind Seraphina. With her between the two bothers she was bound to stay safe from the nipping demons. Castiel was at most risk for being caught, and that thought is what kept his little legs moving. They transferred from sand to stones, and from there they all leapt back into the woods, Quick, help me look for the caves! Castiel’s ice flecked honeys searched the area as they ran and suddenly a cold draft wafted up and around his body. His visionaries flicked to the side and saw a gaping black hole – the caves! I found one guys! Castiel slid to a stop and waited just enough to let Vlad and Sera catch a look at where he was and going. And then he was off like a shot into the blackness. It swallowed his body whole and for a second all he could hear was his own heavy breathing and pattering steps as they echoed down into the depths and back to him. Cas turned around hoping that Vlad and Sera would be coming in just behind him, this place was very creepy and he didn’t like the feelings he was getting…
