i was flicking back on old boards and i found this thread from like 2 years ago. thought it would be a laugh to do it again!
soooo here's 10 things you probably didn't know about thoth 1. his eye colour is genetically impossible. he has brown eyes (dominant), but his mother has blue and his father has gold (both recessive).
2. thoth is autistic, which i didn't realise until last year when i had to research autism for a teaching essay. while i was researching it, i tallied up how many 'symptoms' thoth had and realised i'd accidentally created an autistic character.
3. thoth was conceived in version 5 of shaman during the 4th curse by aura, but when she found out she was pregnant she flew into a rage and transferred the baby to her future son-in-law, draco. he didn't give birth to thoth until wayyy later due to the complication of a male pregnancy. thoth and his best friend tristan are the same age, but if thoth had been born at the "correct" time then he would be 2 years older.
4. thoth was originally based on the character walter "ramses" peabody-emerson from the amelia peabody series.
5. thoth is a naturally "neutral" character who is swayed by and is loyal to people, not morals. if he had made friends with more unsavoury characters instead of with tristan, he could easily have developed into an "evil" character.
6. thoth has black-tipped white feathered wings, but he can't fly. he uses his wings to help propel himself when swimming.
7. my mum, kid president, percy jackson and thoth's old foster dad, joel, all provide inspiration for writing thoth.
8. thoth's familiar, morveren, is completely mute (even in her thoughts) to provide a distinction with thoth's ability to communicate with animals. most fairies can talk with their familiars but not other animals; thoth can talk with other animals but not his familiar.
9. thoth gets on with some species of animals more than others. he gets on particularly well with mice, birds and marine mammals. he clashes with horses and rats.
10. because he grew up polylingual, thoth struggles to differentiate between animals and people, particularly in terms of the value of life. he is a vegetarian because eating animals would be like cannibalism to him.
