aurora borealis- noun plural: An aurora that occurs in northern regions of the earth. Also called northern lights.

In the middle of a dense forest of coniferous trees lies the Aurora Borealis pack, its name coming from its location. At certain times of the year, the northern lights appear, dancing almost magically in the sky. A narrow trail leads you through the close evergreens. Giving into temptation, you begin moving your paws. By venturing into this territory, you are venturing into a land belonging to a pair of feared leaders. You have heard rumors of them...but you decide to take your chances and hope that the tales of blood and death are merely fabricated stories to scare wolves.

You have walked nearly five minutes before you realize the sound of paws stepping somewhere from behind. Deciding that you've made a mistake, you quickly turn around, but find that you cannot go any further. Standing before you is one of the mighty kings you've heard of. His blood red pelt clings over perfectly toned bands of muscle. But that isn't what causes such fear in your veins. One of his amber eyes has a horrid, bleeding scar across it, and his good eye seems to stare right through you. His face is expressionless, giving off none of his intentions. You cower away as his jaws part.

"I'm Hell Demon."

His voice was deep and cut through the air like a hot knife through butter. Right where he left off, another voice picks up from behind you. You whirl around and find yourself facing another male with steely muscles beneath his pelt, which seems to consist of every shade of brown. He had startled you, and you're amazed how you hadn't at all detected his approach.

"And I am Ghost...we're the alphas of Aurora Borealis."

His deep voice was laced thickly with a Native American accent. His own golden eyes are directing a harsh glare your way. Now you're caught in the middle...your breathing has become heavy in your panic and you're not sure which to face.

"You've foolishly trespassed into our territory. You face the one called Hell Demon's whose voice is once more addressing you. Get out, or become a corpse along our border."

It's obvious they mean business. So now it's up to you...take your chances and stay, or heed their warning and waste no time getting out with your life.

Some are born great
Some achieve greatness

Vladimir had not stayed within the confines of Aurora Borealis ever since his parents had left. Or rather, he had hid himself inside of them, being content enough to stay within the dark walls of the cavern by the lake that he, Castiel and Seraphina had found. He was angry at the world - at everyone and everything. His parents first of all had held back information from him, and then appointed Aindreas to Alpha instead of him or Castiel. They were the true heirs - after all Aindreas' mother was someone who was not even around and had never been a member of this pack. In fact, Kalgalath had not been a member of the pack when Aindreas was created let alone born. What gave Aindreas the right to rule over the pack? Why didn't they wait to leave until he and Castiel were old enough to take over? Or... Or...

And then there was Castiel himself. Vladimir had sought him out after the pack meeting, looking to lean on him, hoping for Castiel to soothe him as he always did, but his brother was nowhere to be seen. Over and over Vladimir had run the happenings of the pack, remembering seeing that Castiel had planted himself next to Seraphina, and then next to him. But where he had gone after that, Vladimir could not remember. Vlad remembered mainly Jorah trying to kill his father, and Aindreas then killing Jorah. But when the aftermath was over, Castiel was gone.

But most of all Vladimir was upset with Seraphina. He hated her and yet loved her. She had betrayed him by holding back information from him... by leaving him even if she had not already left him. She would be leaving with her parents and Kael... hell maybe she already had. Vladimir did not know how long he stayed in the caverns, whether it it was hours or days or weeks or months... but when he emerged it was a different season all together. Gone was the winter and the snow and the ice. In its place was sun and grass and flowers. Vladimir gasped at the bright sunlight that burned his eyes briefly, for his pupils constricted so tightly and quickly. The hessian ran quickly into the sanctity of the woods and away from the lake, savoring the safety that their overhanging branches afforded him. It was still bright, especially in comparison to the caves but at least it was significantly dimmed. Vlad stumbled through the woods - ones that he had once known. But they were changed now and he tripped over branches that had not been dead before, and startled at nests of birds that had not previously been built. It was too shocking and too different and..

"Damn it!"

Vladimir shouted in exasperation, not caring that his parents would have reprimanded him for his language. But how dare his home continue on when he was stuck in that moment, stuck in his grief. More than when his parents left, more than when he witnessed murder... but he when found out she had a betrothed. His heart had burned in that moment and let loose his anger, his frustration. It was the moment he kept going back to over and over again, the moment that he would never be able to forget.

As he ran, so too did tears run down his face - from sadness, from anger, from frustration. But Vladimir ran until he could not fun any more. After all, all this time he had been hiding from that moment, why not now flee from it too? At some point, exhaustion pulled at him and slid him to a stop. Blackness overtook him, a truer darkness than the caverns had had and pushed him into unconsciousness. Living in the caverns and not running about as they used too had atrophied his muscles and sapped him of his strength and energy and left him much weakened. When finally he came to he was sore and worn-out... but it felt almost as if this was his second coming, his second chance and that his tears had baptized him. All he needed now was to see the light of the new day, see the light that would shine upon his new start - his life without his brother or his mother, or father... or her. Trembling limbs brought him to their spot, where they had watched the sun rise together... and there she was. Part of him said to run. Part of him begged him to stay. But what he wanted more than anything was to erase that moment, to change what could not be changed.

"Sera?"
