Why Not Ban the AR-15?

The most recent mass shooting deaths involving the AR-15, in Pittsburgh, raises again the question of why shouldn't we ban the AR-15.

--- Statistics have shown that the AR-15 is the most frequently used weapon in mass killings. (See below link).

--- The AR-15 is definitely not a hunting rifle.

--- The AR-15 is not required to protect home owners against intruders.

--- etc.

I also find the argument unsettling that mass killings could be prevented in schools and churches, etc., if armed guards were stationed in these places.(as per Trump's recent comment about the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting) .
--Do you really believe that there should be an armed guard present in your Sunday church service???
