bring me back to life... Ruger

The tension on the island of the Inlet had her even worse on edge than when she was alone, before she got all wrapped up in stallions and battles and going from one herd to another. So much had changed for her in the past few weeks and it was overwhelming enough, but the land she'd just gone to felt like a war just waiting to happen. She could hear mares squabbling amongst themselves and a war ravaged stallion overseeing it all. She didn't understand exactly what had happened but some didn't seem happy about. Her and Requiem might not be involved in any of it but even so, it was happening right within the herd lands he brought her to and it wasn't helping her mental state any so she excused herself and dove into the water. She needed to clear her head, to get some space, at least if only for a moment.

Even the quiet of the water felt nice. The waves lapped around her body and she sighed in temporary contentment. When she reached the shores of the common lands, she knew somehow exactly where she wanted to go. She didn't know if she would find him here, or if he would even come toward her at all. She had just been taken from him, after all. Maybe he would be gathering other mares and not think a second about her. As he should. She didn't know why either stallion seemed to think she was worth saving. Ruger must have seen something to make him claim her in the first place. Else he just wanted another mare to add to his ranks. Then Requiem thought he needed to save her so he challenged Ruger and won. Ruger had been kind once they reached the Prairie, even giving her a tour, but her fear was too raw in that moment to really pay attention.

Maybe she should have given him another chance. Maybe she was still too gullible. Either way, she took a chance by coming here to the place where they met before. Maybe it would be an empty quest and he wouldn't come, but a part of her hoped to at least apologize to him and thank him for his hospitality. She could do that, right? She had to find the nerve somehow.
