here to save the princess

Just when he thought his life was going to get more simple, things turned complicated yet again. He felt whole again. He found Talien and it was like coming home. With her, he found his rightful place at her side and thankfully he didn't have to go through too much trouble to get there. He would have fought with everything he had to get to her, but thankfully she'd done well enough for herself in her herd and was given a position of power. A second in a heart, even. He was impressed, but not surprised. Talien had always been smart, even as a young filly. Though she came up with most of the plans that got them in trouble as foals, she always came up with ways for them not to get caught. If it wasn't for her strategy, he might have been kicked from the herd a lot sooner.

Now he was back in a foreign place but at least he knew he had Talien. That made everything that much better. Yet when they arrived in the Bay, he could feel it. Something was off. Something had happened and everything was about to be thrown off kilter. Most of the herd seemed to be gone or leaving. The glance he'd gotten of the lead stallion made him seem sad, desperate even. Dex wasn't sure what he thought. As Talien thought things over on their next move, he excused himself to explore the islands a little more. She knew that he would always come back to her, but he hadn't taken any time to get to know the islands and he felt the better he mapped everything out, the better he could keep them safe. Talien was his first priority. Her safety and security was everything.

If there was somewhere else they could go and be happy, Dex felt it his obligation to find it and plan everything out for them. He was going to be Talien's provider now and he wanted to make her proud. He wouldn't let her down. He couldn't. He found himself back on the mainland, back where he ran into Talien. Wandering back into the Meadow, he lowered his head and grabbed a couple bites to eat. He wasn't really all that hungry but it was something to do and he needed to keep himself busy while he looked around and took everything in.
