Blood in the water Posted on August 10, 2025 at 06:54:33 PM by Addison
Addison didn’t know who this other horse was, although she could have met him before and still be none the wiser but she didn’t recognize his voice, then again she hadn’t exactly met any other residents here. Her disability constantly mocked her, she was nothing more than a burden to those around her, one who needed babysitting clearly. In her past life she had been confident, loving life and loved exploring.
She wasn’t that horse anymore, that horse has died the night she lost her vision, leaving behind a shell filled with bitter resentment and self loathing. A life full of darkness, trapped inside her own mind, a burden to others, it wasn’t a life she wanted. Her ears swivelled, still trying to pinpoint where exactly this stranger was, behind her was all she knew but to her left? Or right? She couldn’t seem to work that bit out.
At his words and offer of kindness she rubbed her forehead against the tree, the roughness of the bark helping to hold her emotions within that overflowing box, refusing to let any tears fall. She had vowed since that night that she would never cry, something that was becoming harder and harder to keep to the more she spiral into despair and grief at losing her old life and her old self.
She swallowed back the emotions once more O..Okay her voice quiet and a little shaky at first maybe I do need help she said quietly. Attempting to take a step back she stopped when her leg hit something, she wasn’t sure what but it was her defeat as her head dropped. Where.. where are you? She asked, hesitantly I can’t… I can’t… see her voice was nothing more than a whisper, her emotions threatening to overflow as she hadn’t uttered those words very often… if at all.
