Tefnut of the Bay
And the gasoline of my soul will come alive.
After some advice that she never would have thought of herself, a red dun mare waited a while. Her long legs took their time over her territory, but they never strayed to the one in which they wished to see. Letting the days roll by until it was almost two weeks post blow up, Tefnut did her best to make sure Rethe had a safe place to live while also making sure the Bay was not bothered. Apex had yet to arrive in the Bay, staying far away until he was given the go ahead. He might be the sub-lead, but he was being respectful of the mare that Tefnut was hoping to fix things with.
Finally, on a night that was cloud free and the stars were in full bloom, Tefnut made up her mind. Grabbing a few pretty wild flowers, the mare held them in her lips as she went off in search of someone. Her hooves were steady upon the rocks now, but her muscles still ached in places that were not as sure of this land. The sand pulled on her differently than the stones and solid ground. She was growing in places she had been lean before, which bulked up certain areas of her body and made her look more and more like Nahawi instead of a desert bred mustang.
Searching the distance, Tefnut took her time and used the silver light of the moon to guide her path. It took her a while longer, but soon enough her blue eyes landed upon Rethe. Unease coiled in the red mare's gut, but she managed to work past it as she walked closer still. Raising her head a bit higher, Tefnut gave a muffled whicker towards the woman she was aiming for. In her mouth, Tefnut carried a bunch of random flowers. Orange jewelweed, Western Trillium (easter lilies), Yellow Sand Verbena, Springbank Clover, Fairy Lantern, and Forget-Me-Nots. All of the flowers were different colors and scents, but the one she was most proud about was the Springbank Clover.
Stepping until she was a few feet from Rethe, Tefnut looked at the dark mare before lowering her full mouth to the ground. She set the bouquet of flowers on the ground, making sure they were all still neatly placed before grabbing the clover. Holding it in her lips gently, she reached forward with her eyes showing how unsteady she felt on her hooves. Out of everything she grabbed, this was the only flower she knew for a fact was edible. The rest were just for looks, but she tried. Having spent the full day scouring for the flowers, she did her best to grab things of many colors and to see if she could learn Rethe’s favorite color from these items.
“I… I would like to ask you if you would be willing to lay under the stars with me?” She was not sure if this advice she gained from a friend of theirs would work, but she was trying. “I… I would like to get to know you Rethe… if you will allow me?” She was leaving it up to Rethe like she forever would, but this time she was putting the idea forward. She hoped it would work, that they could grow to learn things from one another, but only time would tell. As she let the silence and the moon work around them though, she held her head out with lips loose on the clover, offering it to Rethe as part of the evening she hoped to bring for them.
