At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Terrel appreciated having peaceful times on his own, he liked being in the company of others but occasionally the boy preferred just to spend a small amount of time on his own. He rarely escaped from the kingdom of Saw Tooth – not that it mattered. Saw Tooth was one big family; harmony and peace resided in the beautiful land. And whilst that was all good and great, it got a bit boring. Terrel was at a point of his life where he was looking for adventures and opportunities to take his mind of things. Fishing with Mae, though a failure, took his mind of certain things. But sometimes Terrel just enjoyed to sit somewhere for a while and think his life through. He was certainly troubled occasionally but this time that was not the reason. He was just bored. He was not here to meet anyone but it would have been an added bonus if he had met someone. He didn’t have many friends, which was partially his fault by staying in the cradle of the pack lands. There were not many wolves around his age there and many of them just ignored him. But meeting Mae was fun at least and he had survived on only his mother’s company for a long time so for him to have a friend and keep one gave him a little bit of hope.

When the friendly fragrance of Mae entered his nose, Terrel tensed slightly but when he realised that it was in fact Mae his body loosened. The quiet but welcoming lyrics of the girl met his alert lobes whilst he turned his head respectfully. “Neither was I,” he admitted – a creasing his maw. “How are you?” He enquired and scrambled up to his feet so that he was sitting direct to her. He met her dark brown eyes briefly before looking over her silvery pelt. “So, it appears that we have similar tastes of places, don’t you think?” He said with a small chuckle. It was true – they had met each other in Saw Tooth in the place that Terrel often came. She had revealed that it had been too her favourite place and now they had again found themselves in Staircase Falls. “Well, it’s either that or we both have an obsession over water.” He laughed gently. Perhaps it was true – he always felt more comfortable next to water.

Terrel stretched his neck back and pushed his two front limbs out in a powerful stretch. He always loved stretching in the morning or after he had been idly still for a long while. His gazers travelled up to the sky which held the sun shining tepid beams of warmth. Trees loomed over into the sky as birds gathered things to build up the nest. The boy turned to his head back to Mae. “Do you come here often?” He asked curiously, “this place has a lot of meaning to me; it is where I first met my mother you see but I have not visited this place in a long while.” The multi-coloured by remarked, his gazers staring off into the distant water with a small smile dominating his kissers.
The boy as a pup had been close to giving up, he had been deathly thin but he remembered how a small bit of hope flickered in his mind when Channing had blessed him with her presence. How he had been in awe at her beauty and his life only got better from then on. He had called her pretty; he remembered that because it was the honest truth.

His brown optics directed them respectfully but slowly back to Mae. His tail thumped against the ground in content purpose. “I saw you getting some lessons, I trust it went well? I wasn’t stalking you – honest,” he laughed gently before adding: “No, I was looking for mum. I eventually found her or rather she found me.” Terrel admitted with a smile before looking up into the sky – a murder of crows flew rudely over, crying out with offensive screams. Rolling his eyes Terrel looked back at Mae – at least she was good company without offensive loudness. He almost cringed at the thought; he was one who respected quietness more than loudness.
