The Cavern of Secrets holds much more than you can imagine. Once a forbidden place, the ban on entrance has been released...yet, is it a good idea to enter?

Once a great battle had been fought in this cavern, against a dark beast that had once - and still might - dwell here. No one knows where he disappeared to, but there are rumours...

Hesitating by the falls meant that Mae had fallen behind a little, but as the rain increased from random droplets to a steady sheet her speed increased. She ran as though a monster was snapping at her heels, skittering over the forest floor, able to just about catch up with Terrel. She had confidence in the male and hoped he knew of shelter somewhere close by, feeling the water soaking her pelt slowly but continuously. As the pour got heavier, the male moved away a little and shook his pelt, the femme stopping to let him do so for a moment. Her body shook and she looked up, blinking rapidly as she watched the clouds above them. They seemed to be growing darker, which would explain the increasing intensity of the downpour. Her ear twitched as she heard Terrel speak, giving a nod in response, and she picked up her pace as he began to set off again. The wind was chilly and she could feel the cold, hoping that they’d reach shelter soon before either of them fell ill.

She barely noticed how close they were to Saw Tooth borders, focused only on following Terrel to whatever shelter he could find. Had she been thinking rationally, perhaps they could have sheltered sooner in a den within their pack lands, but as her only thought was to run that didn’t come to mind. Finally, thankfully, a large cavern appeared in from of them. The multicoloured male lunged in ahead of her, but she paused. Never having been in this area of Blossom Forest, she hadn’t realised somewhere like this existed. She was torn looking at the dark entrance, half way between wanting shelter from the rain and backing away. There was an uneasy atmosphere about the cave, as though they shouldn’t be there.

A faster pour of rain fell with a gust of wind and Mae’s thoughts evacuated her mind. With a small yelp she bolted into the dark cave. The femme stopped when she accidentally bumped into something, jumping back with a fright before realising it was the friend who’d entered before her. “Sorry,” she mumbled quietly as her gaze dropped to the ground, taking a few breaths to calm herself now that she was in the dry. As he asked whether she’d been here before she looked up and turned a still nervous look around the cavern. Shadows danced in the corners, disappearing into the never ending darkness, rocks jumping out at the sides of the cave like predators waiting to pounce. The glow of barely there light that would usually calm her in darkness only increased her sense of unease as it cast the look of mist hanging in the air, waiting to entice an unsuspecting wolf in and ensnare it in a maze. She found herself unconsciously taking a couple of steps closer to Terrel, him being the nearest thing to a source of safety in the dark cave where continuous rain echoed from the entrance and strangers could be lurking in the corners.

“No,” she whispered, turning to look at him with wide eyes, “I didn’t know somewhere like this existed.” The faint light danced across her face, highlighting the subtle sandy colours that outlined her eyes and muzzle. Now that they’d been there for a few minutes her heart had calmed down and she wasn’t so jittery; it helped that they were no longer in the rain, and that she found herself able to trust Terrel. A nervous smile danced across her lips as he spoke again, “Yeah…pretty creepy. What do you suppose is further inside?” A slightly adventurous part of her wanted to know, or at least have someone else find out, but the vast part of her shy personality was happy staying near the entrance. The dripping rain echoed around them, making the source of the drops hard to find. Her ears flickered with each sound, but the femme kept her eyes on the male.

They moved in a little further, the narrow beams of light coming in through the roof seeming to light up their journey but keeping their surroundings in darkness. It felt isolating and the silence pressed in. Mae looked down curiously as the stone, noticing it was no different to normal stone despite the fact that their claws against it seemed louder than usual. They stopped and Terrel sat, the femme hearing rather than seeing his tail thumping against the stone. It seemed as though he were able to cope better, if not more comfortable, with being in the cave. It served to reassure her as she sat slowly, tail curling around her as far as it would reach and lying still. She glanced around them. Nothing seemed out of place, but neither of them would be able to tell what lay in the darkness just a couple of metres around them. Sitting there for a little longer, she was able to become a little more relaxed. It wasn’t the ideal place, but then you never knew when somewhere originally frightening could become an intriguing place to discover.

“It’s still creepy…” she responded to him slowly as she turned her gaze back, “but perhaps alright for a shelter.” She lifted one front paw up and licked carefully at the lower part of that leg, trying to get rid of the excess moisture. It was cold, but not unbearably so, and if she was able to leave her pelt only damp she’d be fine. She glanced back up at Terrel as she licked at her paw. “At least…at least it’s not raining in here…” she spoke quietly and trailed off. She both wanted to let her new friend know her dislike of rain, and not let him know of the weakness. “Have you been here before?” she asked, keeping her voice low to avoid too much echo. She guessed he knew of its existence, thinking he’d led them here for shelter, but then he could have just been lucky.

OOC: It's fine :P I'm enjoying the rp, but feel slightly sorry for them. They probably look like drowned rats right now XD
