At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Kalgalath felt another laugh roll from his vocals without opening his blue orbs at the sassy response that the fae came back with. “Yes, Leila, I imagine you would have returned the gesture!” The brute smiled, exposing his pearly teeth as the fae complimented him again, and his twin auditories flicked at the sound of Leila shaking her coat. He was laying so still, that without stimulating either his touch or vision senses, he found that his other senses were much heightened. Her shaking coat sounded like the wind rustling through a needled tree in the fall, some of the needles falling to the ground. He could almost hear the sound of her smile – was it her kissers parting or was it the water lapping at the edge of the rock? And then came her voice, telling him that she had plans to stay around Blossom Forest and to make regular visits to the Falls to appreciate the scenery. She threw in a wayward compliment to her monologue, causing Kalgalath to smile again. He opened his lids and rolled upon to his chest to focus his gaze the on the fae. Her confidence was obvious by the unsubtle flattery that she sent his way.

After Kal made his spiel about the different pack lands, the fae spoke again, her words encouraging and hopeful about the future of Aurora Borealis, and then asked why he not volunteer to be alpha. She called him wise, and Kalgalalth was touched by her optimism. “I believed that my best friend would have taken over – he was the Beta under the previous Alpha, but he has denied himself the throne. So, Leila, you are wise yourself – I did offer myself up for the position of Alpha. I would hate for the position to fall to an outsider… but we are waiting to see if any others will run for the position and we have decided to make a vote. It will be fair and it will ensure that everyone will have a say in the future of the pack, hopefully make us a cohesive and strong unit.” After that he fell silent, his thoughts turning internal. Would he actually make a good alpha? Or would he fall short of the line and let the pack down? Though he had hardly known Sin, he knew that her rule would be a hard one to follow, and that there would be high expectations that he would have to live up to. The pressure would be worth it though if he could pull the pack together and bring it back to life.

He was pulled from his introverted thoughts as the fae spoke again, this time of her own feelings on pack life. Though she was not currently interested in living in a pack, she hinted at visiting the terra he called home. Kalgalalth sent a small smile her way. “Pack life isn’t for everyone, especially when they first arrive here at Blossom Forest. Take your time and make friends… You will find your niche here in time. And should you visit Aurora Borealis I shall give you the grand tour of the terra. It is quite lovely, although I’m sure it will look even better once it comes back to life.” He hoped that Leila did indeed find her own place, and especially hoped that it would be in his own terra so that he would have another good friend in the pack. But as long as the fae ended up happy, Kal would be happy for her.

His ears picked up the faint sound of a laugh, and he narrowed his eyes jokingly at the fae. “Are you making fun of me Leila?” Just then the fae spoke again, saying that they could explore more of Blossom Forest together at some point. His gaze watched the fae lower herself down to the ground until she was laying on her belly, her head laying upon one of her front limbs. Kalgalath fell silent, enjoying the relaxing moment that the pair of them were sharing. It was nice to have a friend to talk to and spend time with. Kong had been absent, mourning Sin’s death, and Kalgalath had stayed within the pack’s boundaries until, so he had not met others. Spending time with Leila was so comfortable, and he wanted to further their friendship and continue to get to know her. She was spunky and made him laugh easily, not always the easiest thing to do, especially with the heavy haze hanging around Aurora Borealis. “So tell me more about you Leila? Why did you come to Blossom Forest? Do you have any family?” Although he knew this could potentially be a touchy subject if the fae had a dark past, he risked it. If she fell silent, he would back off. The brute suddenly felt a chill, and glanced up, noticing a storm cloud blocking out part of the sun, taking away the warmth from its rays. The brute hoped dearly that the wind would pick up and that the storm would pass them by…
