Things had changed again, and yet she had not understood those change anymore than the one's that had occurred prior. She knew only that another had taken the pedestal of Diveen and as such, it had left her only with more questions. What would happen to them? The others? Where would the male who had defeated her aunt go? It was frustrating, and she hadn't the knowledge to cope with the turn of events. Instead, she had decidedly strayed from the borders of Diveen in search of, well, nothing really. Perhaps some part of her hoped to find some sense out in the yonder, or somebody that could create some at least. Stability had fast become a thing of the past, after all.
She had no true sense of direction and she fumbled for some time through the darkness - at some point, she had encountered the river. It had been a narrow bend by the borders of Diveen and Glorall and had posed quite a challenge in the darkest hours; she had taken her time to cross, and yet she had still managed to flop into the water during the last few moments of her crossing. It had swept her from her paws but for a moment, inciting a raw sense of fear as she scrambled up the slopes to drier ground. She panted, though not in exhaustion. Her heart had merely begun to flutter so powerfully against her chest that it felt as if her very lungs were being forced into action.
She whined beneath her breath as she slunk away further from the waters, the autumn air chilling her belly as she did so. Whether she wanted to or not, she knew she needed to find some quiet place to gather her warmth - an abyss seemed to howl in the distance, signalling her arrival at the nearby grottos. She had not been there so much, for some part of it had always put her on edge. The maw of darkness always seemed to smell like ghosts, and resonated with a timbre that made her hair stand on end even now. This time, however, she recognized it as a wolf - a living one, at that, for the scent of others pressed through the air as she slid down the rocky alcove, having now found her place at the bottom of the crack in the earth. At first, it had seemed eerily cold but now, with the wind subdued, she began to feel her own warmth begin to blood beneath her sleek fur.
All of the warmth did nothing to cause her curiosity to recede, however. Instead, she stared into the darkness that was the grotto's mouth - somebody was in there, just as somebody was out here. Though she hid well in the shadows, she knew they'd become aware of her soon. All that she had to decide was one simple thing: risk it here, or risk it inside?
