Nakato
nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky |
Things seemed to quiet down significantly as the warm, summer months rolled across the land. It was nice to see the pack was getting stronger each day and seeing the new pups growing up. Nakato, her den close to the Monster’s, could hear them yipping happily in the darkness. Soon, they would come out and the rest of the pack could greet them. For it is the youth who were most important. They would grow and continue the legacy of their parents. They would grow and with them, the pack would grow. The druid smiled. The future of her new home look very bright. The alpha’s hadn’t needed her assistance for some time and as such, the newly appointed Frankenstein had been busy gathering herbs and stocking her den. It was a cozy little home, now that she had taken the time to clean it out. The front was littered with different kinds of herbs and berries and the back had a comfortable nest made of soft grass and reeds. All in all, Nakato was happy with her life. She had come from a place of uncertainty and found a new home and a new purpose. Soon, when the pups of Asteraia were old enough, they may seek her out for training. One day, she would help teach children the ways of healing. They may not be druids, like herself, but they would be wise wolves with a gentle paw and a caring heart. The thought made her tail wag happily behind her. The bob tailed wolf laid outside of her den in the afternoon sun, letting her mind carry her away like the breeze on the plains. It was another lazy day of nothing but good vibes. There was a growl in her stomach that made her head lift off her paws. When was the last time she had eaten? What was she in the mood for? A sudden thought came to mind as she remembered the taste of fish from her days as a child. Perhaps… With that thought the girl rose to her paws and trotted off to one of the many small streams that passed through the rolling hills. The tall reeds and bubbling waves let her know she had reached her destination. She passed through the grass and stared down at the crystal clear waters. Sure enough, she could see small fish swimming aimlessly on the waters. With a smile, she dove in. Several minutes later, a soaking wet Nakato was laying on the banks of the stream licking her chops. The bodies of the fish who had given their lives were laid reverently next to her. She thanked each one for filling her belly so she may continue to live her own life. Suddenly, her ears twitched at the sound of approaching pawsteps. Someone wanted to join her, or perhaps had been watching her. It didn’t matter. Nakato wagged her tail welcomingly and waited for her new companion to show themselves. |
