Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

Maybe he should have asked Eden for more information on this kid before he set off to find him. Like who are his parents? What's he like? Does he have any hobbies? Of course, that might have been too much to ask. Eden probably doesn't concern himself with the pups of the pack and how they are best taught. He only keeps up with the important stuff, like where he sees potential. Thor still couldn't believe that he remembered Thor had a skill with words when he was a pup himself. He barely remembered his puppy years besides that epic day racing along the river with Samia when he fell into the water and almost drowned. That was a day of trauma though so it was probably to be expected that he would remember that day. The rest was kind of blurry but he always told himself that he would never forget what his parents' faces looked like. He never wanted to forget them.

Surely the boy must have some ambition or made some hint of what he wanted to do with the rest of his life if Eden saw fit to send Thor after him. Did he want to fight or do diplomacy or was he just up for whatever, as long as he got experience? Thor would probably have to pry it all from his brain eventually but he would try to be subtle about it. Blackthorne was still young so there was still probably a good sense of curiosity and wanting to know about others so Thor would have to rely on that to get on his good side. Find out about him while not letting him know he was doing that. He would have to be sly and use his words, hope that he still had the skill Eden had seen in him as a pup. Maybe he could spar with the pup to earn his respect, do some other task to show him that he was worthy to be followed. Somehow he would have to get on the younger wolf's level. They didn't have to be friends but Blackthorne would have to want to learn from him or they wouldn't get anywhere.

He sensed someone else was around and when he turned his head, he saw the wolf stepping toward him with a boldness befitting someone much older. Thor's own head lifted, knowing it wouldn't be a good impression to tuck his tail and show submission to the wolf he was supposed to be training. He needed to earn the wolf's respect and that certainly wouldn't come from letting him win this show of dominance. It didn't have to be a challenge but he would let him know that he was going to stand his ground and he wasn't going to be a doormat. He could feel the wolf's gaze roaming over him as if checking for strengths and weakness. Thor hadn't been in a lot of fights yet himself so he was mostly scar free besides the thorns and stuff he'd run through as he made his way back home. He probably also had some fresh ones from his spar and race with Eden. But he wasn't crippled by any means and he was strong and near his prime. He was still growing and maturing but he was nowhere near pup-sized. At the wolf's question, he tilted his head, one brow rising in curiosity now as he gave a lazy smirk.

"Now is that any way to address your new mentor?"

Let him chew on that a little. He could tell that Eden certainly hadn't given him an easy wolf to train but maybe that only further proved Eden's faith in him to do great things. He did offer him a much higher position than he had even been pushing for, after all. Blackthorne wasn't going to take anything lying down but then Thor probably wouldn't know what to do with a wolf like that anyway. A challenge would be good for both of them. It would train Thor in being a leader just as it would train Blackthorne in taking lessons from someone with a little more experience in life than himself. He didn't expect Blackthorne to be a follower by any means. No matter what he chose to do with his life, learning from others was never a bad thing. Sometimes you didn't even have to let them know you were learning in the first place. If Eden had talked to this wolf about being an apprentice, Blackthorne was either very good at hiding it or hadn't listened at all but Thor wouldn't put it past Eden to never tell the wolf in the first place. He probably would find it amusing to send Thor in blind just to see how he fared with the boy. Well, only time would tell now.
