With spring came new births. New life that flourished or floundered, much like the sea life that found itself washed up on shore during the hectic storms they had been having. The distant horizon was a nasty shade of gray that bespoke of coming furies which had me feeling rather unsettled. It was that time of year, anyways, for such violent storms, but it never made it easier and being along in my den for so long had left me feeling a bit lonesome. Thor had moved out to be with his mate. I understood but I missed him a great deal. I visited often, doting upon my nephew as he was the closest to me, and was struck sometimes by how much he reminded me of Thor as a boy.
I had been working at collecting herbs and gathering fresh bulbs for poultices that would draw out infections. With the new call in the west, I had a strange feeling it might be needed soon, but I had not heard much else in the way of what was happening. Politics was not my strong suit. Healing was. Healing calmed me, made me someone stronger, someone braver. Time did too because I was not quite as cowering as I had been as a child. A bit more bold with my words even around Sir Eden.
My turtle shell filled with a mix of plants had become grooved from my teeth after so long carrying it around. As I trot across the beach back towards my den with it, nose stuffed in it and consumed with scents of lavender, I hear a yelp that makes my fur stand on end. Setting down my shell, my brilliant eyes zip in the direction of Triton who now speaks to a gray female. She was familiar in that I had seen her about the pack, more often in the past few seasons, but I kept mostly to myself. Still, his yelp had stirred something in me and I moved towards them with ears pricked. Well, as far as my floppy ear could be pricked.
As I near, I hear him prattling to her and I grin. Does Triton have a crush, I think, looking her over? Well, it was my duty to be the doting aunt, even in front of a crush, so I walk right up to him and place a paw on his forehead playfully before licking his nose. "Nephew! I have missed seeing you around," I say with a smile before turning to fully face Matianak with an open expression and smile. "I've seen you around the pack quite often, miss. I'm Samia!"
