Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

in the deafening silence;

what's a king
to a god?

Nahawi, it seemed, was unaware of his impact on the islands already. It made Rehoboam wonder if he'd had any understanding of what the Lagoon's history and reputation were before he'd decided to throw himself up as a possible Boss. If he knew how reviled and despised they were by the general populace, or if he truly had any inkling of how dark the blood of his new brothers could run.

Rehoboam's soft brown eyes watched the red newcomer approach with shrewd eyes, uncertain of what to expect. What met his gaze was not a stallion that carried himself with the authority of someone with a large ego; in fact, the first impression that Rehoboam formed of the Boss was that he was just another stallion who had just happened to win an election. It was painfully reminiscent of how he'd felt after being elected as Marauder so many seasons ago and the reminder made his lips purse silently. He'd been young and dumb back then... now he was older, but still about the same level of dumb.

"I might not spend much time here," Reh began with a rueful smile that slipped past his lips quickly. In truth, the tobiano only maintained his membership in the Lagoon because it afforded him the ability to fight for himself should Nyimara or her goons ever come searching again, as well as to pretend that he could protect his children if harm were to befall any of them. "But I am still a brother, and news travelled quickly of what you've done."

The tobiano was careful to keep his tone neutral as he said it, his gaze still focused closely on Nahawi's face. The way he answered these next few questions would determine - at least for Rehoboam - whether his next visit to the Cove would be temporary or possibly permanent. "Why did you let the trinkets go?"
