Blood in the water

Addison tilted her head before swinging it slightly to the left and then slightly to the right. She was trying to work out exactly where that voice was coming from. She hadn’t exactly figured out this whole seeing through sound. Annoyed she stamped her front leg, and then instantly regretted it when the action jarred her shoulder. Sucking in a sharp breath she held it for as long as possible to stop the pained whine from escaping her lips.

Slowly releasing the breath she was holding she shook her head before once more pressing her forehead into the tree, the rough bark giving her the strength the hold back the tears that wanted to fall. Gods she was pathetic, and a burden to those around her. She couldn’t even walk well enough to avoid the trees, how was she to survive like this.

Unknown to her was her current condition, her coat was dull with the shadow of visible ribs since she couldn’t graze unless someone led her to fresh grass, her eyes cloudy with the damage the fall had done and the claw marks down her right shoulder had left permanent scars. These last few months had been absolute hell for her, it made her doubt herself, doubt her worth to anyone else.

She sighed Please, I’m not worth your time she said, her voice barely above a whisper and full of sadness.
