Unknown to her, Inanna’s snowy tail swayed happily behind her as she watched him place the feather back in his fur. The care he took to replace it in his fur surprised her and caused her to feel a moment of uneasiness, as if the earth under her paws was suddenly moving and unsteady. She had felt this feeling before, when the land shook with the force of striking thunder, when Zeus stood by her with her small body between his godlike paws. When Rufio had first smiled at her.
Shaking off the feeling, she smirked at him, her grin twisting her face. Good luck with that. I don’t think you have practiced at all! Her chuckle at him lingered even as he brushed past her, brushed against her, their scents clinging together. It was a nudge in the direction of the beaches which she followed. Feeling playful and energetic, enjoying the feeling of finding her long lost friend, she continued to nudge, annoy, and paw at him while they made their way to the hunting grounds. Once they hit the beaches she sat and watched him with a raised air of superiority. As reigning champion she felt as though he had to prove himself to her before she needed to waste her time proving a fact they both already knew. Her breath caught in her throat and she watched with intense interest as he began his hunt. Amusement was still plain on her face, though her mirth was silent. He pounced and dug, Inanna fighting to bite her tongue to keep from laughing at him. Finally he unearthed his target. Unfortunately it appeared to bite at him before he could bite it!
With accidental cruelty and complete disregard for his pain, Inanna hesitated a moment before jumping forward with a smirk plastered on her maw. So much for skill. Once her friend started whimpering and blood start to smear from his lips she jumped forward to help. White fangs from a white mouth snapped at the offending crab while Thor continued to thrash. She huffed and tried to use her own body to hold the dark wolf down so she could grab the crab. Stop thrashing! I don’t want to bite you! At last her teeth found the hard shell and snapped through the soft underbelly of the crab. Joints cracked loudly under fangs and pressure and finally the creature stopped moving. She flung it to the side and stood over it in triumph, her body and tail large and high. She was still the crab hunter extraordinaire! With a decisive snort she looked back up and grinned at the waves. Glancing quickly back at Thor, she barked an otherwise wordless challenge before racing into the frothing tides. Here they could continue to hunt and chase their crabby enemies. But there were new targets of darting silver fish below the surface. A wave crashed behind her and rushed to embrace her body. She grinned back at Thor, delighting in the natural element that surrounded them.
