At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Kalgalath had the feeling that the fae had noticed him before he had called to her, and respected her for not sneaking up on him. Truly, he had left himself defenseless when he had decided to slip into the refreshing water that lay still in the eddy. His eyes followed her body movements as the fae raised herself off of the rock, her black coat seeming to have some silver highlights in the rays of the sunlight. She stretched thoroughly before she begin to approach Kal, and her stride did not go unnoticed. He had been accepted in Aurora Borealis by his friend King Kong a while back, but due to the death of the Alphess, all had been in mourning, and Kal had been lonely. Not that his mind was only on one thing mind you – he missed friendly conversation and company in general. Still, it was clear to Kalgalath that the stride was not entirely natural, and that the fae was showing off. Kalgalath was not about to complai, and so he allowed his gaze to stayed glued upon her.

His twins focused upon the fae’s voice as she began to talk, first of her enjoyment of the warm rays and then flattery. …what is a handsome brute like yourself doing alone? Kalgalath then realized how long it had been since he had been around femmes. The first one he had seen in over 2 years had been at the pack meeting that Kong had called, and he knew that she would amount to a friend and nothing more. And so, a smile worked its way onto his kissers, and he dipped his head in thanks for the compliment. Had he had a lighter coat, perhaps a blush may have shown through. The attention was nice, but he was unused to it. The fae finally sat herself at the water’s edge, the liquid just able to lap at her, but she then backed up so she was farther away – from both Kalgalath and the eddy. She flicked at the water with her tail, before introducing herself as Leila.

Kalgalath dipped his head once more, this time in greeting, his tricolored coat mostly pinned against his skin due to how thoroughly he was soaked in the water. The brute figured that he should remove himself from the water, and allowed his muscled legs to carry him up onto the rock, moving a good distance away from the fae before shaking off the excess water, not wanting to soak the femme. The initial wind chilled him to the bone, but he didn’t mind, knowing the sunlight would soon warm him up. “I am honored to meet you Leila. My name is Kalgalath.” His grey plume swayed back in forth as he enjoyed the conversation, and the brute smiled waywardly, glad that he had picked here as his getaway spot. Although his initial intentions had been to be alone with his thoughts, he so far enjoyed the company of the lass. “As to why I am alone? I needed to get away from the packlands for a bit, and this used to be my favorite spot. It is so secluded, it is easy to enjoy the surrounding nature in peace.” He closed his maw and also his eyes, tilting his head up toward the warmth eradiating from the sky. He remained silent, but finally opened, his icy gaze alighting upon the fae once more, waiting her reply.
