At the densest section of the forest, there is a brief clearing where a steady flow of water streams down the slippery stone staircase. The water here is cool and refreshing. Staircase Falls has been rumoured to be the place where reality is met by magic; where peaceful spirits dwell. They are rumoured to have healing powers that are used to help the desperately hurt, though no one has experienced this, except for, perhaps, Kaive.

Kalgalath had travelled outside of Aurora Borealis’ boundary for a relief from the grim haze that had been hanging there ever since Sin’s death. The packland had been like a desert, and had been too quiet. Although he had searched for other pack mates to converse with and get to know, he had been unable to do so. They had been hiding away in their caves, all of them grieving for her death, which he understood. But the pack was falling apart and needed a spark of revival before it was too late. And so he had wandered through Blossom Forest without a goal of where to go, just wandering to clear his mind. After being away from Blossom Forest for a few years, he had forgotten the more beautiful of sights that were offered. Perhaps that was why he now found himself travelling through the thicket that surrounded Staircase Falls. It had been one of his favorite places a few years back, a good place to think and a good place to relax, especially on such a sunny beautiful day as this one.

His large paws landed silently upon the ground and carried him through the thick wood. Although he hadn’t been here in years, he had a good memory and remembered the way. His nose pushed through the final layer of brush, and sunlight rained down on his icy gaze, causing him to close his eyes until his pupils adjusted from the transition of the dark forest to the bright clearing. The pain subsided and his opened his lids, gazing around. Nothing had changed since the last time that he had been here. Years had passed and nothing had changed – the beauty of the falls and the falls themselves were intact. Kalgalath’s paws moved him forward once more, his pads giving him traction on the slippery stones upon which the water of the falls ran over. He leapt over a few of the deeper places of water, his nails skidding on the slippery surface, until his reached the top of the falls and found an eddy, where the pull of the water would not drag him over the edge.

His grey coat soon was fully submerged as he entered the cool water, enjoying the dual sensation completed by the warm sunshine. The brute sat in the water, grooming out the rougher parts of his coat when his blue eyes looked up and saw a fae basking in the sunlight on a rock not too far from where he now swam. Not wanting to scare her, he called out to her, opening his grey muzzle to speak. “Lovely day out… enjoying the sunlight ma’am?
